This is the first day of the trek by your feet. After a early morning breakfast leave your guest house. Try to take enough water for the rest of the day though there are some water sources. You will pass by some small but beautiful wooden houses and a hundred years old Shiva temple in a village named Kotagaon. After some minutes of rocky trail, there will be a concrete road.
After an hour of gradual ascent, you will enter the pine, oak forest. This place is famous for birds like Himalayan Bulbul. After another hour the snow-covered zone will start along the trail. You will reach a place named Molani which is a vast meadow almost covered by snow in winter. Then you will reach a wooden bridge and the campsite is just a half an hour distance from there. it’s the easiest day of the trek. Try to get up early in the morning to experience the beautiful sunrise from khujey. Take some heavy breakfast and enjoy the chilled morning with a cup of hot coffee. Start your trek at around 10 o clock and take the trail towards the northeast. It’s a downhill trail before you enter the dense pine forest. After half an hour you will pass by some shepherd huts and reach a point. You can see the famous Kyara valley and Har Ki Dun valley and Barasar lake from here.
After an hour of trek, you will reach a frozen stream which you have to cross carefully. The whole trail is full of slippery snow and you have to handle that. Try to use a show with handgrips and a trekking stick. After another 20 minutes, you will reach the campsite Odari. A snow-covered area at the elevation of 10,100 ft. Pitch your tents here and have a good sleep because the next day is the day of the summit.
This is the most hectic and challenging day of the trek. You have to trek a levation from 10,100 ft to 12,500 ft and then descending to the campsite in Hargaon. You have to start in the morning as early as possible because it is always advisable to reach the summit before noon.
Generally, trekkers starts at 4 am to 5 am. Try to be enough hydrated to avoid altitude sickness. After an hour trail through brown oak trees you will be on the ascent way towards the summit. After a few more hours of trekking there will be a Trishul pointing to the sky. This is the highest point of the Kedarkantha peak.
You will get a 360-degree panoramic view of snow-covered mountains from here. Famous Himalayan peaks like Gangotri, Yamunotri, Black peak, Bandarpoonch, Janoli, Rangnala peaks are visible altogether.
