This is your acclimatization day too as you have gained so much altitude in just an hour. On this day you can arrange some sightseeing in Leh instead of relaxing in the hotel room. Leh is famous for some ancient monasteries. Shey gompa is one of that which is 15 km away from Leh. Shey region was summer destination of the ancient kings of Ladakh. There is 12 m Shakyamuni Buddha statue in Shey which is worth seeing. Then you can go to Thiksey gompa which is 17 km away from Leh is said to be one of the most beautiful monasteries of Ladakh region.Your final destination for this day can be Hemis which is arguably the largest monasteries of Ladakh.
On the third day after spending two days of acclimatization period you will be able to head towards base camp. Likir a small village is the base camp of this trekking route. You have to arrange a reserved car towards Likir as the normal local travel cost is not include in the Nubra Valley Trek packages. There is some shared cars too which are generally for locals. If you want to cut your budget then your can book a seat in shared car too. Distance of Likir from Leh is 58 km and you can experience some beautiful landscapes in this route. From this day you will be solely dependable on your feet. Likir is situated at an elevation of 3600m is the starting point of your trek. Try to start early in the morning towards Umla village. after taking a short break here you have to go through a gradually ascend trail towards Taru. Taru is a village situated in the altitude of 3650 m with some greeneries is the campsite of this night.
You have to gain an altitude of 550 m on this day. Start towards the ascending way from Taru in the morning. After two hour of trekking you will reach Bong-Bong la pass situated at an altitude of 4200 m. After spending some time in the pass you have to take the descent way towards Phyang monastery. After visiting the monastery continue through the same trail and reach Murbuk.
Pulu is situated at the elevation of 4800 m. Start through the ascend trail towards Pulu. A stream of Shyak river will accompany you for a while. After an hour you have to cross the stream carefully. After crossing the river continue with a gentle climb towards Pulu. Pulu is the land of Yaks. Spend your night here.
You have to gain a good amount of height to reach the base camp of this day. In the initial two hour the trail is ascending with higher slope gradually. The last few hours is quite easy as there is a downhill trail. You have to trek for 7 to 8 hours to reach the camp site at Lasirmo La base camp situated at an elevation of 4800 m.
This is a quite easy day of trekking as most of the trail is gradually ascending. Some trekkers like to spend an extra day for Sheperds’ Dok but it is preferable to reach Hunder on this day. You have to walk through some local villages of Shepherds and may give a close view to their way of living. Stop here for some break and lunch and then continue towards Hunder to reach by afternoon.
